Kid Matix is an app that helps children learn their multiplication tables by playing. It was made for children: it runs entirely on the phone or the tablet, with no account and no connection to the Internet.
Several children can play on the same device, each with their own profile (10 profiles at most). For each profile, the app stores on the device only:
The app also remembers the last player chosen and the last choices made on the “Practice” screen, to offer them again the next time it opens.
The nickname is the only information entered by the child. We advise using a nickname rather than the real first and last name of the child.
This data serves the working of the game only: showing the progress, choosing the questions to review, awarding the rewards.
The sounds and the vibrations of the game are produced by the device, from files included in the app.
The data stays on the device as long as the profile exists. To erase it:
As nothing is sent to a server, erased data cannot be recovered, and changing device starts from zero, except with a backup file (see below).
In Settings, section “Backup”, an adult can export a profile to a file (nickname, avatar, settings, progress and mascot of this player) and share it themselves with the tools of the phone, for example to import it on another device; a parental check protects the export and the import. The app sends nothing: the file goes only where the user chooses to send it.
In class mode, the class files (the pupils’ nicknames and their results) leave the device only when the teacher shares them from the teacher area, which is protected by their code.
The automatic backup of the system (Google account or iCloud) is turned off for Kid Matix: the data of the game is not copied there.
The app is meant for children from 6 years old. It collects no personal data and transmits nothing: it therefore follows the rules of Google Play for the apps made for families, those of the Kids category of the App Store, the GDPR and the United States COPPA law.
A future version could offer an optional online mode (leaderboards, backup to an account). In that case, this policy will be updated before its release, and the consent of a parent will be asked where the law requires it. As long as this page does not announce it, the app stays entirely offline.
